Pink Rose and allyship
Pink Rose comes in a variety of colors from the palest pink rubbing elbows with white, to the darkest shade, nearing her other form, cloaked in Red. When we journey with Pink Rose, we embrace loving self-care, opening ourselves up to hidden desires and unmet needs. We ask ourselves, where do I need to be held with tenderness? This question is vital these days as we are bombarded with a ridiculous amount of negative situations around the world, filling our news and social media feeds. It is hard to stay connected when the world is heading to hell in a handbasket, so what is a Wild Woman to do?
Rose medicine is the most varied plant I have ever worked with, which is saying something considering my extensive journey with plants. She has a vast array of colors to choose from, each revealing a different message and lesson, including her thorns, for the person willing to walk her wild paths. I found Rose when I was 19 years old and have since wandered through her gardens around the world, embracing and sometimes fearing what she has to offer me.
CREATING ALLYSHIP
Getting to know a Plant Spirit means spending time with it, learning everything you can while staying open to what is meant for you. It means staying curious and willing, even when you are challenged by what arises. Asking questions such as: How does the plant grow, and under what conditions? Are there more than one variety? What Goddesses, Gods, myths, and lineages are connected to this plant? How did it show up in your field when you heard the call? This is the basis of Allyship, creating relations with beings through exchange or Ayini (reciprocity).
Creating an altar to your Rose journey is an excellent beginning, and adding her to your cacao, tea, mapacho, or baths is another way to bring her essence into your life. Making foods such as energy balls or sweet treats, or making a powder and adding it to a face mask, also creates a connection to her energy. Personally, I like to make rose moon water, tinctures, medicine pouches, and grow her in my garden as a way to strengthen my relationship with her.
ROSE MEDICINE QUALITIES
Rose is often connected to sweetness, softness, and femininity in her most passive forms; however, Rose is also fierce, protective, sensual, mysterious, and formidable in her messages supporting your boundaries, while honing your discernment. She IS the Changing Woman incarnate, representing the Maiden, Mother, Wild Woman, and Crone phases of a woman’s life.
Pink Rose is an excellent variety to begin with, to feel the breadth of her intelligence. She reminds us to Walk in Beauty, a Diné/Navajo concept of living in harmony with life, not just aesthetically, but to be in right relationship with all of our actions, words, and the Great Spirit. Working with this color of medicine allows us to consider nourishment on deeper levels and where we can invite it into our daily lives, remembering that ceremony is all around us, not just designated days.
MY CONNECTION TO PINK ROSE
As someone invested in Rage as Sacred, healing heartbreak along the Witch, Mother, and Sister Wounds, I find working with Pink Rose softens my capacity for righteousness. I can be quite the mama bear when it comes to those I love, including ideals, and signs of injustice in the world, which, to be fair, is a lot these days. However, it could be all of those ceremonies chanting to Kali under the influence of ayahuasca, or the inborn spark of fire in my nature; regardless, I want my concerns to be heard, and Pink Rose allows me to root into my heart with compassion, connected with the protection of thorns.
She deepens the relationship to my womb, the bowl of creativity settled between my hips, which births projects rather than children anymore. I am reminded that I am more than fertility for human growth, encompassing a deep well of wisdom, connected through cosmic cycles. My intuition expands with each song sung to her as I imbibe her teachings through vision, smell, and taste. It is Her Medicine that extends my own, inviting me further into her Temple of Mysteries, and extending far beyond the Realm of Plants. I bow to Her sophistication, completely willing to learn anything and everything I can.
MY OFFERING TO YOU
I am dedicated to offering Rose Medicine to you in various ways - privately, in groups, and on retreats. I will be offering her medicine in YouTube Videos, Podcasts, and through my newsletters, so stay tuned! At this moment in time You have a few opportunities to meet this Queen:
